Where the world meets our coffee grinders


Only a few days remain until the international trade fair Triestespresso EXPO 2024, where we will be showcasing our coffee grinders and solutions for Turkish coffee.

Trieste, thanks to its port, historically a connecting point between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the East, boasts a long and deep relationship with coffee, earning the title of coffee capital. Here, in addition to historic cafés frequented by Joyce and Svevo, and numerous coffee roasters, you will find the Coffee Museum, the Coffee University, and every two years, Triestespresso, the international trade fair dedicated to the coffee industry, takes place here. 

Turkish Coffee.

This year, the guest country of Triestespresso is Turkey, a major coffee-consuming country known for its distinctive traditional Turkish coffee, now recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Turkish coffee has unique characteristics, both in terms of extraction and preparation, but it is also challenging to grind, as it requires an  extremely fine grind size. Traditionally, it is ground using stone mills, which have limitations such as production capacity, and there are few industrial solutions worldwide capable of meeting its requirements. Our grinders are among the few that can do this, and in fact, for years they have been present in almost all Middle Eastern countries, from Turkey to Jordan, Syria to Lebanon, Egypt to Saudi Arabia. These include the TA250 special, specifically designed for Turkish coffee, or our flagship model, the MAC5, which can grind up to 400 kg of Turkish coffee per hour. And of course, the Angel, our smallest model, perfect for small roasteries and coffee shops.

Triestespresso 2024: Turkish Coffee and More

Turkey is the guest country of the 2024 edition, and there will also be a barista contest focusing on Turkish coffee preparation. However, the fair is, of course, dedicated to the entire coffee industry. We will be there with a TA250 special, a MAC3 with a small degassing system for Nespresso compatible capsules production, and several Angel grinders in action during the grinding of filter coffee, espresso, moka. And even Turkish coffee.

In fact, we have long since decided to impose on ourselves an ambitious quality management system to monitor and improve every possible aspect of our business processes.

This is definitely a challenging work that allows us to operate with higher and higher quality standards and optimize procedures and processes.

With enormous satisfaction, this work of ours has also recently been recognized: we have obtained UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certification. An important milestone that rewards our constant commitment to quality and excellence in every aspect of our work and motivates us to do everything we can to continue to improve.

Sweet home Chicago

Chicago is, along with New York and Los Angeles, one of the three most important cities in the United States, with a rich industrial, economic, and cultural history.

At the beginning of the 20th century, on the shores of the Great Lakes, large industries attracted workers from all over the world, also favoring the Great Migration from the South in the 1920s. It was thus that the culture of blues, originating from the Mississippi Delta area, was massively imported to Chicago. Coffee market also grew enormously, thanks to the numerous factory workers who went in search of an energy drink to recover from the strains of work and music to relieve the homesickness (the term blues itself means “to be melancholic”) of those who leave their homes in search of fortune.

Here, the blues took a new, more electric and urban path, also thanks to the emergence of record labels like Chess Records and electric guitar manufacturers, shaping a style that will be remembered as Chicago Blues, with figures such as Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley, leading to Rhythm’n’Blues with Chuck Berry and John Lee Hooker, and so on.

Over the years, the industry has undergone significant transformations, but this cultural ferment has remained unchanged. From Chicago Blues to Rhythm’n’Blues, to 1970s Dance music and 1990s Post-rock, Chicago has always been a global reference point in club-culture, as well as in industry, economy, and architecture.

And this year, Chicago is also a global reference point for coffee culture, hosting the new edition of the Specialty Coffee Expo.

Toward the Far East

After the Dubai fair, we are moving even further East. Last December, thanks to our new local partner, Shika Coffee International, we had been to Hotelex 2023 in Shenzhen, and now we are ready to return to China for the new edition of the hospitality fair in Shanghai.

The Far East has always made us think predominantly of tea rather than coffee, but in fact the coffee market in China has seen tremendous growth in the last two decades, driven mainly by the consumption of young Millennials and GenZ from the big metropolises, attracted by the “western lifestyle.” 

So much so that Shanghai itself is now considered one of the coffee capitals of the world, and was even recently listed as the city with the highest number of coffee shops in the world, more than half of which are artisanal and independent.

And according to several analysts, the Chinese market in 2025 will have doubled the volumes of 2022: a huge market in great ferment, capable of infecting even the immense Chinese province and neighboring economies, such as Vietnam. And a market where made in Italy is highly valued, in fact Italian companies are among the main exporters and suppliers in the sector.

Towards East

For the coffee industry, the Middle East market is recently characterized by rapid expansion, mainly driven by the vibrant economies of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Here, the big coffeehouse chains are opening stores at an impressive rate: it is estimated that, in a few years, coffee shops of major brands in this area will be twice as large as those currently present throughout Europe.

The phenomenon not only concerns the main international chains, but also involves independent producers and specialty coffees, which are responding to a growing demand from increasingly discerning and curious consumers.

In this exciting scenario, from January 21 to 23, we will be present at the third edition of World of coffee in Dubai, which has now become one of the main industry events in the entire Middle East region. We will showcase our new Angel grinders, ideal just for the variegated world of specialty coffees, as well as the complete range of our coffee grinders, capable of satisfying all the needs of roasters, from American coffee, to espresso, to Turkish coffee, to capsule coffee production.
